Use Current Location

Shona Coyne looks at ways to move forward from where we are now with positive change, mixing drone footage, old maps and scans of second hand fabrics by designer Maddie Mc Ghee.

The intriguing and immersive series of digital works ‘Use Current Location’ by Shona Coyne mixes fashion and the location she is based to reflect on life after lockdown. No longer having places to rush to and by remaining still in one location Shona Coyne really got to value the place she calls home. These feelings were the inspiration behind this collage series mixing footage taken with a drone looking down on the area Shona now lives in with maps of the area from over 100 years ago.

Alongside these are close up scans featuring patchworked designs of reclaimed second hand fabrics by designer Maddie McGhee. By spending time to reflect on where we are now with where we want to be, looking at the old with new ideas we can re-think what we know to move forward with positive change.
