Copenhagen Nights

Following the success of the original Brooklyn Days beauty editorial and the discovery of a new chapter in the lives of Emilie Brooklyn and Xavier Days, beauty editor Rozelle Parry was inspired to continue their unfolding journey in pictures.

Emilie Brooklyn (25) from Copenhagen, Denmark and Xavier Days (27) from Brooklyn, New York met through social media and their shared passion for dance. Emilie who is now an instagram sensation through her dance videos going viral , and X who has recently become King of the Streets (Best Street Dancer in the USA) and winner of Battlefest League are now rejoicing in their latest pregnancy news.

In the last six months, their story has gathered momentum with a magical winter December wedding in Copenhagen and moving into their first apartment together later this month, where the two of them will be making a creative space and raising their new baby boy who is due on 21 April 2021.

Their upcoming future holds the dreams of traveling between New York and Denmark, dancing ,making music, modelling , Emilie studying psychology and both continuing with their social media presence.

“To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched-along with body -making pregnancy  a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.”

ANNE CHRISTIAN BUCHANAN

In continuation with the theme of the first story of Brooklyn Days,  Rozelle wanted the images to be very much about shape, flow , light and shade, blending of culture and race, love, emotion ,eyes(b seen) and, hearts (b love). The analogy of the balloons is symbolising a temporary state of shape like with pregnancy.
“On a beauty perspective the vibe was a relaxed Monroe. “Through my eyes , a look that really suits Emilie is a nod to Marilyn . I thought it would be interesting to see her at this stage of a pregnancy ” said Rozelle.

Her hair was styled in fallen curls, giving the feeling of a relaxed dropped look. For the make, up a matt base by Nars was used, followed by a translucent loose powder by Mac.  A bone eyeshadow by Mac was swept across the lid with a taupe eyeshadow applied in the socket and a black eyeliner flick using  Diorshow on stage Liner.  Lastly black false eyelashes by Dufflashes were added to the lashline with little gems  to give a modern twist to a classic Monroe makeup. And of course after a touch of blush in Vintage by tromborg the lips were painted in Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick 1 Le Rouge.
