In Ancient Greek and Roman times the Goddess Sophia was revered for her wisdom. According to Gnostic philosophy Sophia was a divine female creator.

Our Sofia has both wisdom and spirit. Her story is one of triumph and the indomitability, of the human spirit having overcome Leukaemia including three gruelling rounds of chemotherapy as a young girl. During the darkest of moments, when she no longer recognised her own reflection, it was her love of fashion and her dream that one day she would pose as a real model, on a real photoshoot, pampered and preened by fashion experts, that sustained her.

French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal said, “In difficult times carry something beautiful in your heart,” and today we celebrate both the inner and outer beauty of Sofia.

Sofia’s strength and her determination to continue to feel like herself, despite everything, inspired her to look to the creative world of fashion for sustenance. In particular, she admired the elegance of model Alessandra Caporaso and here she is posing alongside her hero. In her short locks Sofia sees not the suffering of illness, but rather the grit of the girl who survived, whose lust for life can not be extinguished. Her sense of self is stronger than ever.

Sofia’s dream came true, right here in Milan, the capital of fashion, because of the generous collective effort of some exceptional people, chief among them renowned photographer Rohn Meijer who shot Sofia so beautifully and made her feel every inch the top model.

“Today we celebrate both the inner and outer beauty of Sofia.”

Dressed head to toe by DSQUARED2, Sofia was able to express her true self, pose after pose.

Sofia’s stunning make-up look was crafted by Make-Up artist Letizia Maestri and her assistant Ginevra Papalia.
