Photographed on the wild North West shores of New Zealand, Dj and model Josh Barrett tells us a bit about his life and future projects.

Originally from Christchurch, Dj and future aviator Josh Barrett gets up to explore the wild shores of North west New Zealand alongside photographer David Shields. It all happened while they were on a break from the lockdown, theyheaded up to a fun day of shooting at the beach.

Josh accepted posing for David Shields’ lens as he loves art and says that fashion has always been a big part of his life and a way to express his emotions and explore his personality.

“Modelling is a fairly new thing for me, I still find the camera quite intimidating but I’m getting used to it.”

As an active young man who skis, skates and surfs, Josh is also passionate about making music and meeting new people and cultures so his next big project is to ‘literally’ fly high as he signed up to an aviation course starting next year.

The term ‘Rogue’ is based on the phenomenon of the random occurrence of a rogue wave – which is excessive in power and completely unpredictable, causing one always to be aware when on the West Coast beaches of NZ.

Josh has put together a super playlist aptly named ‘Rogue’ for our Spotify channel, a compilation of the hottest tunes he finds at the moment, you can listen to it here.

Glitterage: In front of darkness there is always light

Glitter has such a magical quality. It makes me happy, watching it dance to the light, reflecting, taking on a kaleidoscope of new colours . It feels alive. By Rozelle Parry
