Alisa Marchenko reconnects natures’ threads to create voluminous, organic sculptures

“I collected dry leaves from three different countries where I lived, developed as a person and formed relationships. I put the leaves in three piles according to the geographical locations where I found them. I walked among them until they were entirely mixed up. I took stems from the leaves and used them to create the form, thus combining the matter from the three different parts of the world” – Alisa Marchenko, 2020.

Alisa Marchenko’s artistic practice investigates the relationship of the inner world to outer space, and the body as a mediator between the two worlds. Utilising natural elements and transparent materials, Alisa reflects on the duality within the human mind and body – the interaction of external and internal, eternal and temporal, physical and metaphysical.
