I started Cellotape with one key thought, the telling of a story. I felt then, as I still do, many stories are still uncovered, indeed for the big glossies, are not relevant. There are also readers who are only interested in the famous, the “of the moment” or the instant story. I wanted to speak to a diverse audience, and to tell lots of different stories in fashion, beauty, arts, and lifestyle.
In the beginning, it was many short stories. Gradually it’s grown and truly, although I never planned a massive volume like “War & Peace”, it has become more and bigger stories.
Now, some years later l am, as in any good story, starting a new chapter. Cellotape is growing and expanding, alongside a marvellous new team of people, with enthusiasm, skills, talent, and their own stories to tell.
I want to inspire and guide viewers across an open-minded platform into a dynamic and flexible universe, presented by creatives who support emerging talent producing work across a broad range of topics.
As the world continues with its troubles, fashion must balance the real world, in which clothes are simply a necessity, with fashion dreams. Dreams and ideas and the need to hope; the aspiration to authentically do good in the world hand in hand with creativity. Cellotape displays the ever-changing diversity of cultural trends, and the creative expression of emerging individuals, irrespective of race, age, body, gender, or religion.
Celebrating the best of fashion from the designer to the embroiderer, telling stories about people through visuals and words was my motivation at the beginning.
It is still at the heart of the rewrapped, revamped, redesigned, reimagined and refreshed Cellotape.
So, “Once Upon a Time………..”
