Alyosha

Artistic nuance and experimental rawness meet in Alexey Yurenev’s visually immersive world of photographic and video-based storytelling.

The work “Alyosha” was inspired by early 20th century avant-garde and experimental film movement in the art world. It gives homage to the pioneers like Man Ray and Marcel Du Champ that paved the way into the modernist movements such as dada and conceptualism, and had a big influence of the direction of my work.

“I wanted to create the feeling of abstract experimental world.”

Alyosha lures the viewer into a romanticized melancholic dream world, where she is controlled by invisible powers of an alternate universe in such a way that it defies our sense of reality convincing us of an unspoken point of view. Jupiter Jones
